RBI worked with nine participants representing 70 entities to develop a program to displace energy transfers between control areas and thereby avoid import, export and other control area operator fees imposed on energy that crosses control area boundaries. RBI constructed SAMBAdp to implement the daily operations, and monthly tracking that allows utilities with resources spanning different control areas to pool and exchange resources to avoid costs. We operate this program daily, and implement monthly reconciliation of costs and savings calculations. This program has displaced 644 thousand MWh for a savings of over $5 million dollars per customer group for a combined displacement of 1,288 MWh saving over $10 million dollars in 5 years of operation.
