RBI successfully obtained a grant through the Sacramento Regional Water Authority to develop the first active groundwater recharge spreading basins in Sacramento County. On behalf of the Omochumne-Hartnell Water District and it partner Rancho Murrieta Community Services District, RBI developed a plan to develop 80 acres of recharge basins to percolate wet period consumes river flows. The project’s initial operation would enhance groundwater recharge by about 4,000 acre-feet annually provided the availability of river flows and largely offset the south-county overdraft.
